Can you fix my child?

I wish it were that easy. Children can develop behavioral problems for a variety of reasons, from changes in hormones, surroundings, and circumstances, children can find themselves struggling. Many children do not have the tools needed to deal with life transitions. Often, as a therapist, I see the problem from a systems standpoint, meaning the family system is playing a part in maintaining the troubling behavior. Frequently, having the family come in for counseling, in addition to the child, is quite helpful. Addressing the family unit helps create lasting change for the individual child. The entire family can learn how to best support the child through his or her transition.
