How often will we meet?

Similarly to "how long will this take," the answer to frequency is similar. For each client, the experience is unique. Working with your schedule and finances are important in deciding what the process will look like as we move forward. Together, we will determine a plan that best suits your needs. In general, we look at the severity of the presenting issue first in order to determine frequency. I find that most clients are seen once a week for a 50 minute session. This continues until the client reaches a place they are feeling confident in the growth concerning the presenting issue. Many folks will then go to every other week, as they begin to wean off of therapy. The every other week patterns will be replaced with once a month, which fades out as mutually agreed on between client and therapist. The final session is a graduation session, recapping the growth gained in therapy and addressing a plan for if symptoms return. Having proper closure is a healthy way to finish therapy and gives the client a chance to experience a safe and complete parting of ways (which sadly does not happen out in the world very often).

How long will this take?

I wish I could answer this question. If it only were as easy as following simple instructions with a #1, 2,3... As humans, we are all unique. Therapy times follow suit to our uniqueness. Each person has their own belief systems which bring them to their current place. Our life entails many circumstances, events, and history. This collection of experiences shapes our current reality. For some folks, getting from where they are currently to where they want to be is a quick and straightforward journey. For others, the journey is more like a long and windy adventure! I am honored to be a part of the experience, no matter what the duration.
